AWA World Heavyweight Title Match
February 20th, 2007

Steve Corino, Professional Wrestler, United States

Kenneth Banks, Professional Wrestler, United States
"Most importantly, he(Steve Corino) and his opponent Cameron Mathews delivered the goods, producing one of the best NWH main events I've ever watched."

Mike Labbe, Turnbuckle Truth, United States
"King of Old School' Steve Corino pinned Cameron Mathews with a Lariat in a grueling 25 minute contest. This was, without a shadow of a doubt, the greatest technical wrestling match that I have ever seen in person. It was a spectacular back and forth contest that had everyone on the edges of their seats and made you think that just maybe Mathews was going to win the bout. Finally, after pin attempts that numbered into the high double digits, Corino leveled Mathews with a sick Lariat for the 3 count and a standing ovation from all in attendence."

Johnny Davidson, Professional Wrestler, United States
"Also, Corino is the man. Cameron is the man. End of story."

"I'm stoked to see Corino live again, and I'm also very proud that a maine talent in Cameron Mathews has reached this level."

James Couture, World Wrestling Insanity, United States
"Now, I bore witness to an AWA World Title match earlier this year. While mostly a rockin’ contest between Steve and Cameron Matthews, your typical hyper-athletic but undersized guy, I was deeply disturbed by a spot involving Corino sticking his thumb up the guy’s butt, then being forced to suck his own thumb. I guess he felt his match only needed one thumb up to be a success."

"Mr. 630" Jerrelle Clark, Professional Wrestler, United States
"Cameron Mathews is a very young kid who reminded me a lot of a taller Seth Delay (NWA Wildside). Only thing he needs to work on is his offense, the kid is good and has a great work ethic, all he needs is polish on offense and he’ll be set. I know this because the next night he put on a hell of a tag match with the two guys from Canada, Danny Duggan and Kenny Omega. I was left wondering where was all those moves for our match."

Danny Duggan, Professional Wrestler, Canada
"Me and Kenny (Omega) had some very good matches with guys like Paul Hudson and Cameron Mathews."

Drake Evans, Professional Wrestler, United States
"As for Drake Evans' best match this year, it is a toss up between 3. I would say my best three matches were with The Northern Studd, The Bull and Cameron Mathews."
"I had a really good match with Cameron Mathews...had fun wrestling him. We went maybe 10 minutes and the crowd stayed with us the whole time...I would also thank Cameron Mathews for a great match."

"King of Old School" Steve Corino, Professional Wrestler, United States

Kenneth Banks, Professional Wrestler, United States
"Cameron Mathews might be the best worker in Maine. Either him or Jason Rumble, probably...I'm most looking forward to wrestling Matt Lindsay, Cameron Mathews, Jason Rumble, and hopefully Scotty Vegas some more, too."
"Most importantly, he(Steve Corino) and his opponent Cameron Mathews delivered the goods, producing one of the best NWH main events I've ever watched."
"...Cameron Mathews was on the show that night, and he's excellent..."

"Terrific Wrestler"

"I'm very proud of the match Cameron and I had...My favorite thing about wrestling Cameron is that he likes going stiff in there. I can chop, punch, kick, clothesline, and forearm the guy as hard as I like, and he never complains. Granted, I can rest assured that he's going to tag me back just as hard, but he never takes liberties with me, and always goes out of his way to protect me...There was a lot of good action in the bout...The match instantly became one of my favorites, and I can't thank Cameron, or Gina (Marie) enough for their contributions."

"...I had the opportunity to wrestle Cameron Mathews in one of the most enjoyable matches that I've had in a long time. Mucho thanks to him for giving me such a fun outing. As many people know, I regard Mathews as one of my two or three favorite opponents, and this match only strengthened that view..."

"My two best matches on the tour were against Cameron Mathews in Caribou..."

"If I had to pick what guys consistently have given me my best matches over the past several months, it'd be a virtual stalemate between Paul (Hudson) and Cameron."

"Cameron was excellent as always, and I thank him for putting me over so convincingly."

"We enjoyed tremendous crowd heat that night, even though--from a highspot standpoint--we did very little. The match told a great story, and we both sold our asses off for the other."

"I kinda think that he looks like a slender John Cena, but maybe that's just me."

"...wrestled Cameron Mathews in what was probably our best match ever together. Good crowd reaction, good heat, good psychology, and good action. A million thank yous go out to Cameron for this one, a good candidate for my next DVD."

"...he's excellent. Great high-flyer, willing to do just about anything you ask. Nice gear, very young, but has a good body, unlike a lot of the younger guys."

"Just pure talent wedged into a 17-year old's body..."

"...When he's my age he ought to own the wrestling world. His wrestling future is nearly infinite."

Jerry Martell, Professional Wrestler, Canada
"Morgan (Storm) had the match of her life against a great kid named Cameron Mathews. He wanted to learn and did exactly what he had to do to tell a story..."

Paul Hudson, Professional Wrestler, United States
"Good friend of mine. Good tag team partner. Student of the game. He is really talented and has the ability to push it to the next level."

Osirus, Professional Wrestler, United States
"As I've stated before, I'm a HUGE fan of Cameron Mathews and love how far he has come."

Sonny Roselli, Professional Wrestler/Promoter, United States
"Cameron Matthews: Art Barr "

Hardware, Professional Wrestler, United States
"Cameron hit me with a superkick that looked KILLER and our little mini-feud was on. Here we go into a little bit of truth and honesty. I've known Cameron Mathews since he started. Cameron and I trained together, we worked on our first show together, hell the second match that I ever wrestled in my career (and the first match that I ever won) was against Cameron Mathews (then known as Matt Rage). Cameron has gone from being a spot-heavy, irresponsible, childish, scrawny little wannabe wrestler into being a spot-markush, almost-responsible, dry-humping, Randy Orton-esque, legitimate wrestler. I am willing to go on the record and say that Cameron Mathews can work circles around 95% of the wrestlers in New England and he isn't even old enough to buy beer yet. The kid gets better not just with every year, but with every match. Cameron has even helped me work through a few lack-of-confidence issues in the past...now that Legion Cage has moved to Florida and with Marcus (Hall) living in Connecticut, Cameron is going to locationally be my closest friend in the business. Our matches aren't always the best, but they are never the worst, and I've never seen someone his size being willing to take (and in a lot of cases GIVE) so much punishment...Cameron once again put me over. Thanks Cameron."

"...I've always been a fan of his. Always looking to perform. He's also becoming quite the accomplished amateur wrestler..."

Josh Jakan, New England Wrestling Reporter, United States
"Main Event time and the crowd is excited as can be for Cameron Mathews vs. Mr. 630 Jerelle Clark from NWA-TNA's X Division. To be honest with you, I would have needed a Courtroom stenographer to keep track of a quarter of the action in this match!...the real story here is a young kid by the name of Cameron Mathews. Mathews consistently worked Robbie Ellis week after week in the early days of NWH where he was seen in baggy full length tights. He has matured in time both in appearance and in ring ability. On this given night, Mathews went full on with a TNA Superstar and did more than hold his own. One of the early tell-tale signs of the match was after a multi-move lightening fast exchange, both men sprung from their backs to their feet. While Clark stood strong ready to go, Mathews came to his feet unbalanced with a slight stumble backwards. From this point, the match was very even...An exhausted and battered Mathews was able to take a slight offensive advantage later in the match but as he came off of the top rope, Clark raised his leg and caught Mathews right in the jaw almost knocking him out...a battered and fatigued Mathews snuck up from behind and rolled Clark up for the pinfall victory. Mathews rolled out of the ring and laid on the floor for several minutes. This kid really stepped it up to another level in this match and has shown that he can be a player in the future of New England wrestling."

"FINALLY time for the double main event! First match featured Canada vs. USA, as the imports Danny Duggan and Kenny Omega took on Maine's own Cameron Mathews and Paul Hudson, the reunion of 69 Degrees for those diehard Maine fans that remember their teaming. This could go down as one of the best tag matches I have ever seen!...Best part of this match was how the home state boys Mathews and Hudson hung in their move for move with these guys. This was an entirely evenly matched battle with both teams fighting for an advantage that was always just out of reach. One might think this match could be written off as a simple high spot fest but nothing could be further from the truth as both teams combined fast paced chain wrestling with, mat grappling, and acrobatic moves off of the ropes. By far the most entertaining moment of the match came when Mathews and Hudson got their opponents in double ankle lock submissions and then spun around to stand on their opponents backs simulating surfing. The crowd went absolutely bonkers at this point screaming and cheering. This well paced match continued to build in action and at its peak featured repeated near falls that had the crowd on the edge of their seat. Like any great match this one gave the fans what they wanted, great action and a Hudson & Mathews victory when Hudson drove his opponent to the mat for the three-count. The match ended and the crowd all rose to their feet for a standing ovation, the small moderately full KC Hall was actually deafening. One fan gave a thumbs up sign to a friend a few rows away and another turned around and high-fived another fan he didn't know. This was one of those matches that is just perfect on every level and the entire crowd is captivated and entertained. Any promotion in New England who has a Cruiserweight division without Hudson and Matthews might as well not have a division at all. These two young Cruiserweights are just waiting to make an impact!"

"This match was very ambitious with almost non-stop action and a fair share of dangerous high spots from the top, including a dramatic Mathews moonsault from the top to the outside. A very good match that could highlight almost any card...Hudson and Mathews continue to improve and impress every time out. Imagine those two taking on the team of Thrillogy (Mikazi & Camero), talk about tag team fireworks!"

"Mathews is young and athletic...I am very anxious to see Mathews compete in a competitive Cruiserweight match with the likes of (Mighty) Mini, (Kid) Mikazi, Pete Mulloy, or Paul Hudson to really see his potential come out."

"the energetic Mathews who sold well...did work the ropes well and showed good agility."

Gray Ghost, The Burning Hammer, United States
"Kid Krazy and Triplelicous teamed up to take on the duo of Cameron Mathews and Paul Hudson. This was a good tag match, with all four men showing some good work."

Adam Berry, Wrestling Fan, United States
"The second thing that really sticks in the memory of the evening, especially for The Rowdies, is the "Loser Leaves New England" match between Cameron Mathews and Legion Freakin' Cage. What a match! Words cannot express the excitment and professionalism of this match. The action was hot, the fans were into it big time...Legion Cage's last match in New England was memorable and Cameron should be DAMN proud for such a great match. Cameron is one Hell of a wrestler and one Hell of a guy. I feel that he will follow in Legion's footsteps and is going on to bigger and better things."

"One of the best cruiserweights I have ever seen. He should apply to do Colgate commercials."

Damion Main, Turnbuckle Truth, United States
"the name speaks for itself 'The Wrestling Revolution' one of the most gifted athletes in all of Indy wrestling in New England today, very few in the sport on this level take the risks nor hit the big moves like Da Shoota' "

Mike Labbe, Turnbuckle Truth, United States

Mike Poulin, Angry Marks, United States
"Add Canadian Moondog vs Cameron Mathews to the list of candidates for Match of the year. It was a tremendous match."

"Next on the card is the match of the night TV Champion Cameron Mathews and Paul Hudson met for the title...Matthews was able to eek out a victory after several awesome moves including Hudson landing a suplex into a swinging neckbreaker off the ropes, and Matthews landing a backflip flatliner off the top rope."

Bodi, Wrestling Fan, United States
"...the only person on the show who seemed to have any worth at all was a kid named Cameron Mathews, who apparently wrestles out of Maine. Kid's got charisma out the yin yang, and his in-ring stuff was pretty good too. I'd like to see him on a (Ring of Honor) Do or Die card, but I know it won't happen."

James Couture, World Wrestling Insanity, United States
